Each employer has a legal requirement to ensure that they have a health and safety policy / statement in place. The policy states the aims to ensure the health and safety of a company’s employees, contractors, visitors and members of public that may be affected by the business operations.

At Fiontar Safety Management we will work with your company to ensure the policy demonstrates your company’s commitment to achieving the highest health and safety standards.

At Fiontar Safety Management we don’t believe in providing generic documentation. A method statement is designed to indicate the ‘Safe System of Work’ for an activity and therefore must be specific to the task.

The risk assessment will give an indication of the potential hazards from the activity, possible injuries that could occur and control measures to reduce the risk.

We will work with your company to ensure that the documentation provided serves it’s purpose as an important document to give clear instruction and measures to reduce risk.

Within the UK under the CDM Regulations 2015 the client must appoint a Principle Designer with a role of coordinating Health & Safety.
Their duties of the role are

  • assist the client in identifying, obtaining and collating the per-construction information
  • provide per-construction information to designers, principle contractor and contractors
  • ensure the designers comply with their duties and co-operate with each other
  • liaise with the principle contractor for the duration of appointment
  • prepare the health and safety file

Within NI a client must appoint a CDM-c (Construction Design Management Coordinator) on notifiable projects. These are projects which involve more than 30 days or 500 person days.

In Ireland the role of Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) is a similar role which clients must appoint under the Safety, Health and Welfare at work (Construction) Regulations 2013, to ensure coordination and cooperation throughout the project. At Fiontar Safety Management we can provide both these roles and the role of Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS) which is undertaken by the Principal Contractor.

An independent inspection or audit is a great way to discover the Health, Safety & Environmental status of your current management systems and also ensures legal compliance.  We can provide both to your company with an audit providing a clear report of the findings and areas of improvement required. The safety inspection is similar to the audit, less formal but no less just as important.

We can aid your company in obtaining any 3rd party accreditation including, but not limited to the following;

  4. Constructionline
  5. Safe Contractor
  6. CHAS

We can also help your company with any Pre-Qualification Questionnaires as part of tenders or in order to work for other Company’s. To show our commitment Fiontar Safety Management Ltd. has achieved Safe Contractor accredition in accordance with the 3rd Party Scheme which is part of the SSIP.

Incidents/Accidents are the last thing any company wants occurring however the reality is that they do happen. At Fiontar Safety Management we can be on hand to provide you with the required guidance you may need. We can carry out a comprehensive incident investigation, provide a detailed report to allow your company to get to the root cause, ensure legal compliance, follow up actions to ensure that adequate controls are in place to prevent a reoccurrence and provide help, support and guidance on any pending legal prosecutions. 
Under current regulations both in Ireland and the UK all notifiable projects must have a Construction Phase Health and Safety plan produced. Working with your company Fiontar Safety Management can provide you with a completed plan or for smaller projects when margins are tighter we can provide you with a template to work from.
